The Weapons Expo is coming back to Wellington – together we can shut it down again!
Every year, arms dealers, the military and the government come together at the Weapons Expo to make deadly deals about weapons and war. This year they’re planning a greater focus on ‘trade stalls’, aka more guns and killing machines.
The Weapons Expo will be held at the Westpac Stadium over two days: October 10 & 11. We are planning a community peace blockade of the Expo & invite you to join us.

For people travelling from Auckland or places along the route to Wellington, we have a bus and a number of cars that are driving down. The bus will be leaving Auckland on Monday, 9 October at 9am. Please email us at aucklandpeaceaction(at)gmail.com if you would like a seat. The trip is free of charge.
Non-violent direct action training (NVDA)
We will have two free NVDA training session to get you ready for the action. These are on Saturday, 30 Sept from 1-5pm (venue to be confirmed) and on Monday, 2 October at 7pm at Trades Hall, 147 Great North Road. These trainings discuss how to practice non-violence, how to blockade, other kinds of roles there are for people at the action, along with legal and safety issues. Feel free to bring your questions along.
What to bring
Planning for Wellington weather is always hard; more than likely it will be colder than Auckland. For your travel bag, you will need a sleeping bag, duvet or other cover + a towel. For the blockade, and since we will be out in the elements all day, please bring a warm jacket, wear comfortable & sturdy shoes. Bring any essential medicines, a bottle of water & some snacks. There will be a food crew to keep us topped up throughout the day, but it is always good to have a bit of chocolate, nuts, snack bars, fruit or indeed anything you like to munch on.
